Hi! I’m Brigitte Marquette.
I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT-RTC2935). I have a BA with great distinction from Athabasca University, and a three-year diploma in Transpersonal Therapeutic Counselling.

My counselling style is curious, collaborative, empathetic, and direct. I believe in the strength of the human spirit and with proper support, not only will you overcome life’s challenges, you will flourish.

I have a special interest in trauma, early childhood and intergenerational trauma, family systems, couples/marriage counselling, emotionally immature parents, anxiety, and emotional regulation. I will support you through an eclectic approach including Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, AEDP, CBT, and Attachment Theory.

Additional education includes Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy – Level 1, Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy – Level 2, AEDP Immersion, and NICABM courses including the Trauma Series, Abandonment, Post-Traumatic Recovery, Resentment, Shame, and Trauma Related Dysregulation.

I look forward to supporting you!

The name Gilded Cage Counselling comes from the story of a bird living in a gilded or opulent bird cage. Despite the luxurious cage the bird is living in, it is still trapped.

This metaphor can be used for our lives. Do you feel trapped by the masks you wear, the lifestyle you have built, or the coping mechanisms you have? While on the surface, often things can ‘look good’ on the outside, yet we may still be trapped by our pain, fears, guilt, or shame on the inside. You can set yourself free from these fears, pain or coping mechanisms to live your life in a way that matters to you.
